Williams Grad Art List - 05/08/23
Hello from a new editor and a job posting from the program itself!
Welcome to the Williams Grad Art List, edited by Sarah Van Anden (MA ’11).
Hello I am Sarah Van Anden (she/her) a member of the class of 2011—our Halloween Party at the Fort was ‘Still Life’ themed; the Winter Study trip took us up/over/down/across much of Italy; and (commencement honoree) Marina Abramović watched over as our degrees were conferred. I am delighted to send my first message, humbly taking the reins from Andrea Gyorody (MA ‘09). Later this week I will send a full digest of postings and moving forward we plan to be in touch biweekly. Thank you again for your patience as we manage the transition. The good news, nothing about how you receive or review the Newsletter will change. If you do have questions or ideas about the Newsletter, and especially if you have news and/or opportunities to share, email me at williamsgradartlist@gmail.com
Associate Director, Graduate Program in the History of Art
Speaking of (exciting) opportunities to share, our Williams Grad Art Program is seeking a new Associate Director.
Details about the position are available here, and initial review of applications will begin shortly. Whether you have an exceptional candidate in mind, or you yourself are interested, please consider and share the posting with your community. We all know what an important role this for the program, and the wonderful legacy of scholars that the next associate director will join.

This week’s Art-Toon (a loving dedication to Dr. Andrea Gyorody)
b/c Andrea, you deserve many treats and Polke will always make your friends/classmates think of YOU!
We have all benefited from Andrea Gyorody’s mighty efforts to produce this invaluable Listserv for *many years*. But everyone may not know that Andrea’s art historical mind and commitment to bettering our field is very nearly rivaled by the joy she takes sharing food/recipes/restaurants/bars/food trucks/cafe/bakeries—all things victual— with friends.
Thank you, Andrea, for everything you do to enrich the Williams Grad Art community. We each owe you a little something tasty next time our paths cross; you pick the spot!! ;)
Many thanks to Andrea for the development of this useful (and fun) compendium. It is hard to imagine someone better than Sarah to take it over and to shepherd it well and with good spirit. Congratulations to both on the transition.
